Reality TV star Phyna has slammed social media trolls who mocked her after she was spotted working at a restaurant as a waiter, questioning why Nigerians look down on certain jobs when done locally.
The former BBNaija winner did not hold back as she addressed comments claiming she had gone broke because she was seen serving customers at a restaurant.
βWhat is wrong with it if I am actually working as a sales girl or waiter?β she asked. βWhy the insult? Why the whole βher money don finishβ narrative?
βPhyna expressed frustration over what she described as the hypocrisy in how Nigerians view jobs. According to her, many people celebrate Nigerians working as cleaners, waiters, and caregivers abroad, yet shame others doing the same jobs back home.
She questioned why honest work is suddenly considered embarrassing simply because it is being done in Nigeria. Her statement has since sparked massive reactions online, with many fans defending her and praising her for promoting dignity in labor, while others argued that Nigerians are too quick to attach success only to luxury lifestyles.
Many social media users also pointed out that there is absolutely nothing shameful about working to earn a legitimate income, regardless of status or fame.
Phynaβs response has now reignited conversations about classism, social media pressure, and the unrealistic expectations placed on celebrities after leaving reality TV fame.
